Creative direction for PARADE 2017:Garfield Park—an outdoor performance inspired by dance history, community resistance, and the joyful pageantry of American parades. Worked in collaboration with choreographer Rebecca Pappas, designer Joy Havens, and NoExit Performance to conceptualize the performance, develop characters, design and fabricate costumes and props.

Elliott Hundley Studio
Worked closely with artist Elliott Hundley and team on production of his large-scale sculpture Mask. Sourced materials, created prototypes, devised construction methods, and fabricated final “skull” form in extruded-plastic tubing.

Worked with the artist to create a pair of two fully-lined and illuminated ponchos that transform into the artist’s wearable sculpture Reading Room. Sourced reflective fabric and ripstop nylon materials, then working from the artist’s pattern, constructed hand-sewn pieces that included LED lighting and insertion points for tent frame elements.

Costume consultant for artist Kelly Nipper on her project Tessa Pattern Takes a Picture, 2013; a commission by the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Sourced textiles and oversaw fabrication including dyeing and custom tailoring of dance leotards. Worked in collaboration with the artist to develop and hand construct pleated bodices that replicated the form of a camera baffle.

Costume consultant for dancer and choreographer Rebecca Pappas. Advised on textile selections, conceptual design, fit, and fabrication of costumes for three dancers. Created a draping technique that gave each garment a unique form that moved with the bodies of the dancers. These costumes were made from materials used in the project’s set design, creating a harmony between the stage and the dancers.

Worked with the artist to create dresses and bedding based on color motifs found in his paintings. Sourced materials, worked with a dye house to produce custom textiles, created patterns, and constructed hand-sewn pieces for exhibition and wearing.

Consulted with the artist on fabrication of sandbags made from fire blankets. Produced initial sample bags with a focus on engineering and scaling up for production. Created a construction guide and connected the artist with local fabricators for large scale production.

Re-constructed fabric elements in felt, suede, and satin for an edition of 1:12 Perfect World, by Jason Rhoades. Sourced all materials to match pieces originally produced in 2000. Made patterns and lead a team of seamstresses in fabricating sixty individual elements from the installation.
